Eating Disorders Awareness Week (#EDAW)

As someone with lived experience and a volunteer for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), I’m eager to share information about Eating Disorders Awareness Week (#EDAW)—an annual campaign running from Monday, February 24 – Sunday, March 2, 2025. This week is dedicated to educating the public on the realities of eating disorders, while offering hope and visibility to individuals and loved ones affected.

Eating disorders have the second-highest mortality rate among mental health conditions, with one person dying from an eating disorder every 52 minutes. Yet, many remain unaware of the barriers to recovery, including misconceptions, stigma, and a lack of accessible treatment and support.

This year’s theme, “The Time is Now,” calls for a shift in perception—emphasizing the urgency of spreading knowledge, increasing access to resources, encouraging early intervention, and supporting ongoing research. By raising awareness, we can promote early detection and improve the likelihood of recovery for millions.

Together, let’s make this #EDAW a turning point for greater awareness, empathy, and support for everyone impacted by eating disorders.
